Dandenong A & P Society’s Scottish Heritage Day is always held on the last Sunday in May.
Christine Nixon, Chief Commissioner of Police is the patron.
The first
Scottish Heritage Day was held in 2003. Clydesdale foals & mares,
Shetland Pony and Highland Pony have events on this day. Continuing the
Scottish theme, we have tried to showcase many other animal breeds that
have originated from Scotland. Ayrshire, Belted Galloway, Angus and Highland
Cattle have all been on display and in 2007 a new competition for
Scottish breeds of dogs has been introduced. All prize rosettes are
imported from Scotland.
For a number of
years the highlight was Archie, the Scottish bantam (known for his fine taste in dressing, rather than for his
geneology). Unfortunately he has now retired and no longer attends
There
will be highland dancing and pipe band demonstrations, as well as
Scottish goods for sale. There are also fun games in which children can
participate.
This is a low key day, free to the public. Hot
food is available for purchase including Devonshire teas.
Sunday 31st May from 10am until 3pm.
FREE admission & parking on ground.
